The Kennebunk Land Trust is hosting a social walk for owners and their dogs 10 am Sunday, June 10th at the Butler Preserve, also known as “Picnic Rock.” This is a special walk as KLT will be partnering with P.U.P. (Pick Up Plastic) Bags, a local environmental organization created by Jane Schaller and her daughter, Caitlin Martone Cox. P.U.P. Bags helps you walk with purpose! The foldable, reusable bag clips conveniently to your dog’s leash or collar so you can pick up plastic on your walks. Healthy you, healthy dog, healthy planet. A free P.U.P. Bag will be provided to all those who attend. At the walk, folks will be encouraged to utilize their new P.U.P. Bags to help pick up any plastic/trash at the preserve. All dogs must remain on leash at all times. Owners are expected to bring their own bags for pet waste.
Butler Preserve is a gem of a walk and can be described as easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. The trail leads to a large boulder known as Picnic Rock with views of the Kennebunk River. In earlier times, Picnic Rock was a well-known spot where boaters traveling the river would stop and picnic. Now the preserve is enjoyed by people of all ages as a stop on a kayak excursion or to hike. A RSVP is appreciated but not necessary at info@kennebunklandtrust.org or call 207-985-8734.
This is a rain or shine event; please wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather. Call 207-985-8734 for more details.
