Using her extensive collection of glass smalti tiles, millefiore and ceramic pieces Lisa Houck will guide you in constructing an 8"x8" mosaic while learning about cutting and placing the tiles to create movement and flow. In mosaics "andamento," or flow and movement and flow of the mosaic tessere is important for creating a balanced and pleasing composition. In this class you will work with your own designs to create your 8"x8" mosaics. These pieces will be constructed on wood substrate with glue and are intended to be hung indoors. You will learn to cut and grind tiles and to work with glass tiles in a variety of shapes and textures. Please bring some drawings, photos or other sources of inspiration for your mosaic designs. All levels are welcome! All materials will be provided with a $60.00 materials fee which you will pay the instructor directly on the first day of class (not included in the class fee.)
