Mastering Mosaics 2-Day Workshop with Lisa Houck at Arundel Farm Gallery

Using her extensive collection of glass smalti tiles, millefiore and ceramic pieces you will construct an 8"X8" mosaic while learning about cutting and placing tiles to create movement and flow.  In mosaics "andamento" or the flow and movement of mosaic "tesserae" is important to create a balanced and pleasing composition. In this workshop you will work with your own designs so bring drawings, photos or other sources to give you inspiration.  These mosaics will be created on wooden substrates using glue and are meant to hang indoors.  You will learn to cut and grind tiles and to work with glass tiles in a variety of shapes and textures.  There will be a $60.00 materials fee which will be paid to the instructor on the first day of class.  All levels are welcome for this workshop!!

Lisa Houck is a well-respected printmaker, painter and mosaic artist living in Maine.  She has created many large indoor and outdoor mosaics with some projects in the Boston area.
