Signal Kennebunk Brings a New Coastal Dining Experience Rooted in Maine’s Maritime Heritage
Kennebunk, Maine — [JUNE 2026] — A new restaurant concept, Signal, is set to open at 27 Western Ave in Kennebunk, Maine, offering a vibrant coastal dining experience inspired by Maine’s working waterfront and the spirit of gathering after a day at sea.
Named after the historic 1850s fishing schooner Signal, the restaurant draws from Maine’s maritime culture and the traditions carried across the Atlantic by generations of seafarers. The menu and atmosphere blend coastal New England character with understated European influence-bringing together fresh seafood, premium steaks, thoughtful cocktails, and a culture centered around gathering, conversation, and celebration.
The opening team brings together a group of hospitality professionals with experience across some of the region’s most recognized food-and-beverage concepts. The project is led by Morey Highbarger and Ian Miller, partners behind Via Maine Hospitality and brands including Sea Salt Lobster Restaurant, Pepper’s Landing, and Batson River, where they have helped grow a portfolio of restaurants known for hospitality, atmosphere, and destination-driven dining experiences across Maine.
The team also includes General Manager John Floyd, recognized for his leadership at acclaimed restaurant concepts including 555 North and Ultramar, and Culinary Director Benjamin Hasty, former owner of Thistle Pig and a longtime figure in Maine’s restaurant and bar scene.
The menu features a refined yet approachable take on coastal cuisine, with a focus on fresh seafood, oysters, and steaks, complemented by a strong cocktail program and a lively, high-energy atmosphere.
“We wanted to create something that feels rooted in Maine but also fresh and exciting,” said Morey Highbarger. “Signal is about that moment after the work is done - when people come together, share a meal, and enjoy where they are.”
Located in Kennebunk, Signal is positioned to serve both locals and visitors, offering a destination for dinner, drinks, and celebrations alike. The space is designed to accommodate everything from casual nights out to group dining and private events.
With a focus on hospitality, atmosphere, and quality, Signal aims to become a staple of the Southern Maine dining scene.
Signal will open in June of 2026.
