Twilight is a magic time and winter nights are very special. Hidden Pond is a great place to wander slowly and explore. We will learn how animals, birds, and plants adapt to winter and to moving about at night. We will leave our flashlights in our pockets and practice our night vision, opening our other senses to help us navigate the growing darkness. How much can we see, smell, and hear at night? Is night vision different from day vision? During winter the humidity is low and the stars are bright. If the night sky is clear we will stargaze, waiting for the brightest stars to shine first and as the other stars emerge we will explore the constellations of the winter circle. We will ponder how the constellations change through the year and speculate on how our ancestors used the changing night sky to track the seasons, navigate the oceans, and so much more.
