The story of his improbable recruitment and rise at Indiana State University is the subject of bestselling author and award-winning journalist Keith O’Brien’s new book, “Heartland.” O’Brien will discuss Larry Bird’s meteoric rise from obscurity to immortality. While Keith O’Brien is best known for his sports writing, including the bestselling book “Hustle” about the dramatic rise and fall of disgraced baseball superstar Pete Rose, he has penned several other popular books, including “Fly Girls” about women airplane racers.
