The Alzheimer’s Association® is inviting Portland area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Greater Portland Area Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 8 a.m. at Payson Park located at 755 Baxter Boulevard in Portland. An estimated 1,200 Walk to End Alzheimer's participants will complete a three-mile walk around Portland’s Back Cove and will learn about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies, support programs and services offered by the Alzheimer’s Association. Walk participants will also join in a meaningful tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease. Kim Block, News Anchor of WGME 13 is the event emcee. “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a family-friendly, fun social event that helps us raise awareness and funds to one day achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s,” explains Laurie Trenholm, Executive Director, Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter. “It is an uplifting and inspiring day that shows support for those living with Alzheimer’s and gives a strong message of hope to find answers about this disease and ultimately a cure.” Slugger The Sea Dog will make an appearance, Rewind 100.9 FM will be live onsite and music on the field will be provided by DJ Kirk Killer. Dogs on leashes are welcome and the walk route accommodates strollers and wheelchairs. Participants will have the opportunity to take team photos that will be featured on our social media.
