Social Causes
Waban Projects, Inc. is a non-profit agency which develops and implements programs designed for the well-being of children and adults with developmental and other disabilities. Waban’s fully accessible Main Campus is situated on the shores of Bauneg Beg Lake in Sanford, with additional locations in Sanford, Springvale, Kennebunk and North Berwick.
From its humble beginning in 1966 as a Summer Camp, Waban has expanded to serve thousands of individuals of all ages. Our many caring professionals currently staff programs including 22 residential homes for adults, the Fraser-Ford Child Development Center, Case Management for children and adults, Life Works & Company, Summer Camp and Training.
Waban also operates three social enterprises: SecureRMS, a secure document shredding facility; the TREE Program for Teambuilding, Recreation and Environmental Education, which offers custom designed leadership development courses and an environmental education curriculum, both of which utilize Waban’s wooded acreage; and the Wormwood Center, a lakeside banquet and conference facility available for receptions, corporate events and seminars.
For over 45 years, Waban has been making a difference in the lives of children and adults with developmental and other disabilities.
