The Climate Initiative

About Us

The Climate Initiative (TCI) is a nonpartisan climate education nonprofit headquartered right here in Kennebunkport. We give educators and young people the knowledge, free tools, and confidence to take action on climate in their own schools and communities.

Our Learning Lab modules bring climate science into middle school and high school classrooms, covering topics like plastics, clean air and water, human health, and disaster preparedness. Today, more than 7,400 educators use them to reach over 820,000 students, and TCI programs have engaged more than 990,000 people across 60 countries.

We’re proud to call the Kennebunks home. Each year we host our national Climate Educators Retreat and Changemakers Evening here, bringing teachers, students, families, and local businesses together for real conversations about building a healthier, more resilient future.
