About Us

Rev. Susan Page Townsley, Minister. Sunday Worship and Sunday School at 10:30 AM with communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Our mission is to be an inclusive community of faith that preaches the word of God, teaches the love of Jesus Christ and reaches out to all through the Holy Spirit. The steeple of South Congregational Church rises high above Kennebunkport's Dock Square. First gathered in 1838, the church continues to be a vital part of this seaside community. Within our doors, visitors and local residents alike will find a warm welcome, whether stopping by for a quiet weekday visit or joining us for Sunday morning worship. Our adjacent building, the South Church Community House, provides space for our youth programs and is used by many community groups throughout the year. Please call the church office for rental information. Kennebunkport's recently-restored South Church Community House, overlooking the Kennebunk River, is located at 8 Temple Street (near Dock Square), and is now available for rentals for up to 120 persons for your wedding reception, business meeting, art show or dinner party. The large 1470 square-foot main room has six large windows overlooking the South Church River Green and the picturesque dories on the Kennebunk River. The adjoining 22 x 22 parlor library, with triple archway to the main room, has a handsome fireplace mantle, antique grandfather clock and desk, and comfortable leather chairs. Three chandeliers hanging from the sixteen-foot ceiling and matching wall sconces can flood the main
