ABOUT THE ATTORNEYS: Gene R. Libby has a rich history of litigation experience over the last 30 years. He has tried over 100 civil and criminal jury cases to verdict. His practice focuses on a wide variety of civil and criminal litigation representing individuals and small businesses, including divorce, real estate disputes, small business litigation, elder law, personal injury, professional negligence and criminal defense. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2003 and named a New England Super Lawyer by his peers. In 2012, he was named one of the top 100 Maine trial lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association. He is rated by his peers AV® Preeminent (5 of 5), the highest rating available from Martindale-Hubbell, the country?s oldest and most respected legal directory. Timothy J. O?Brien?s practice areas include Labor and Employment Law, Sports Law and Litigation. For more than 25 years, he has litigated a wide variety of labor and employment issues including wrongful termination claims, discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims, wage claims, and disputes involving covenants not to compete and has counseled clients on health, safety, wage, employee relations, and labor law issues. He also has significant national experience on sports law issues ranging from Title IX to rules compliance on behalf of colleges and universities. A resident of Kennebunk, Mr. O?Brien is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the New England School of Law. Gail Kingsley Wolfahrt has concentrated her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and taxation for over 20 years. She represents clients in Maine and Massachusetts. She is a resident of Kennebunk. Ms. Wolfahrt received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut and her law degree from Boston College Law School (J. D. cum laude). She earned an advanced law degree (LL. M. in Taxation) at Boston University Law School. Ms. Wolfahrt is a frequent lecturer on the subjects of Estate Planning and Estate Taxation. Brian L. Champion represents companies regarding employment matters, such as employment contracts, severance agreements, ADEA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, OSHA and breach of contract cases. He counsels management regarding day to day employment law matters, and provides coaching and training for management on issues such as: hiring, firing, promotions, reductions in force, discrimination, progressive discipline and terminations. He has a national practice with a concentration of clients in New England, and has appeared before administrative agencies, Human Rights Commissions, and the EEOC, across the country. Mr. Champion has over 25 years of litigation experience and is admitted in the state and federal courts of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He received his B.A. with Honors from the University of Maine, and earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Mr. Champion is a veteran of the USAF. Tyler J. Smith practices in the areas of civil litigation, labor and employment law, criminal law, and family law. Mr. Smith graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in computer science (B.S. 2005). He graduated from the Roger Williams University School of Law, Bristol, Rhode Island in 2009. He is a member of the Maine Bar Association, the York County Bar Association, and the Maine Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. COMMUNITY SERVICE: In addition to successfully launching and growing their firm, all of the firm?s partners have given significant time to local community organizations. Gene Libby is involved in numerous community and professional organizations, including founder and board member of Mary?s Walk, which in its 15th year went over the two million dollar donations level, the Maine Cancer Foundation, and the Saco City Council (1999-2003). Timothy O?Brien has served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of York County, the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks, and the KBIA Youth Program. Gail KingsleyWolfahrt has served on the Board of Directors of Avesta Housing of Portland, Maine, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Wellesley Cooperative Bank.
