SUMMARY:Spooky Concert for All Hallows' Eve
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 26\, at 4:00 pm\, Christ Church\, 6 Dane St\, Kennebunk will present a concert of spooky music in anticipation of All Hallows' Eve and All Saints' Day after. Christ Church Music Director "Maestro" Warren King and virtuoso flutist Diana McNulty have gathered a program of great spooky music\, from "Night on Bald Mountain" to Bach's "Toccata in D Minor" and the theme song from "The Addams Family." The program is designed to be fun\, with plenty of spooky shivers.\n\n \n\nAll Saints Day (Nov. 1)\, was thought to be when the spirits of those who have left this life were free to roam in ancient Europe. People wore costumes so spirits that might want to do them harm would not recognize them. They moved from door to door carrying hollowed-out turnip lanterns and asking for food in return for a prayer for the dead. . In the New World\, native pumpkins were found to be a lot easier to empty and carve\; hence our Jack O' Lanterns.
