DESCRIPTION:Christ Church of Kennebunk is proud to present in concert on Saturday\, September 28\, at 4:00 p.m. internationally renowned musicians from Leipzig\, Germany\, the home of Johann Sebastian Bach\, pipe organist Frank Zimpel and trumpeter Alexander Pfeifer.  They will present works by J. S. Bach\, Georg Friedrich Handel\, Jean Sibelius and Philip Glass.  This is an opportunity not to be missed.  These professional touring musicians have performed in the greatest cathedrals throughout Europe\, as well as at Harvard University and other distinguished venues across the USA.  The excellent acoustics and outstanding hybrid pipe and digital organ at Christ Church provide the perfect setting to showcase the musicians? marvelous talents. The duo has performed together for over fifteen years\, throughout Europe and America. In 1996 he was the winner of the Xth International Bach Competitition in Leipzig.  He completed a post-graduate course in organ at the University of Music in Vienna in 2000.  He served as a lecturer at the Evangelical College of Church Music at Halle.  He works in the church as a cantor and organist\, and as a lecturer in music.\n\n\n\nAlexander Pfefer began his musical training playing the violin but found his calling as a trumpeter at the age of 12. He is a native of Leipzig\, where he attended the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School of Leipzig.  He studied theology for four years at the University of Leipzig\, and later trumpet at the Dresden University of\, where he was a top student.  For nine years\, He and Frank have recorded numerous CD?s\, which will be available for purchase after the concert.\n\n\n\nAdmission\, at the door\, is by free-will donation.  Children under 12 years old are always welcome at no charge.
